3.25tonne angling boat adrift near the Mewstone

The 6 minute launch time was due to the fact that the lifeboat was being prepared for a training exercise and the three crew were already in their drysuits. The Coastguard tasked them to a 25ft angling boat with 3 on board which had lost engine power one mile east of the Mewstone. The strong current had carried them even further east by the time that the lifeboat arrived, 20 minutes later. The boat was towed back to its berth above the Higher Ferry
