Dart ILB & Salcombe B class combine in rescue.

Launch No: 76
Craft: Spirit of the Dart. D-702
Saturday, 14 August 2010
Location: Lannacombe Bay

A 7m Bayliner cabin cruiser with three on board reported that they had engine failure with a broken fan belt whilst off Hallsands in Start Bay. The Coastguard requested that the Dart ILB attend. The flood tide was very strong and had carried the casualty vessel round Start Point until they were off Lannacombe Beach. It was requested that the boat be towed to Dartmouth. The Dart ILB would not have had enough fuel to tow against the tide for that distance and assistance was requested at 18:35 from the flank station at Salcombe. The B class ILB from Salcombe took over the tow at 19:01 and towed the vessel to Dartmouth. In Dartmouth Harbour the Dart ILB took over the tow and berthed the vessel at the Dart Haven Marina.
