Dog walker with leg injury rescued at Duncannon.

Launch No: 52
Craft: Spirit of the Dart. D-702
Thursday, 10 December 2009
Location: Duncannon reach. River Dart

A middle aged lady fell whilst walking alone with her dog along the embankment at Duncannon Reach, injuring her right ankle. The Coastguard tasked the Inshore Lifeboat to pick up two Paramedics from their ambulance at Stoke Gabriel and to land them as near the casualty as possible. As it was low tide the landing place was five minutes walk to the lady. The paramedics worked with the Torbay mobile Coastguard team and the lifeboat crew to immobilise her leg and carry her back on the lifeboat stretcher to the boat. The casualty was transferred on the lifeboat, with a Paramedic, back to the Ambulance and thence to Torbay Hospital.
