False alarm

Location: A381 bridge at Totnes

A man reported to the emergency services that he was stuck under the A381 bridge across the Dart at Totnes. The lifeboat was launched after a discussion between the DLA and the Coastguard as to whether a launch was feasible as there would be less than 0.3m of water at the scene as it was a very low spring tide. The Dartmouth Coastguard was also deployed to provide a communication link.The Fire Service could not locate the man at the scene and he was later found by the Police at his home. The lifeboat crew were stood down at 00:04.

Visitor Centre opening hours

The shop is now open from 11am to 3pm. on Monday, Thursday and Saturday and from 11am to 1pm on Tuesday and Wednesdays. After closing on Saturday 4 December the VC will be closed until the start of half term week in Feb 2022.
