Investigation of floating object off Strete Gate,

Location: Start bay. One and a half miles off Strete Gate.

A member of the public on the beach at Strete Gate reported an object in the water one and a half miles offshore that could possibly be a Kite Surfer. The Coastguard requested that the ILB be launched to investigate. The object turned out to be a large channel coastal observatory buoy streaming instruments. It was brought back ashore to the Mobile Coastguard team at Strete Gate.

Visitor Centre opening hours

The shop is now open from 11am to 3pm. on Monday, Thursday and Saturday and from 11am to 1pm on Tuesday and Wednesdays. After closing on Saturday 4 December the VC will be closed until the start of half term week in Feb 2022.
