Lady with head injury stretchered off rocks.

Launch No: 44
Sunday, 18 October 2009
Location: Castle Cove, River Dart estuary.

A 31 year old lady slipped on the rocks at Castle Cove and hit the back of her head and neck, resulting in a brief period of unconsciousness. She had been placed on a stretcher by the West Country Ambulance crew and the mobile Coastguard team. Due to the proximity of the casualty to the water's edge and the difficulty of carrying her over the rocks the stretcher was placed inside the RNLI beach stretcher and she was evacuated in the ILB. She was landed at the Double Steps and transferred to Torbay Hospital by Ambulance.
