A 63tonne 75ft yacht had just lowered her sails in failing light as she approached the Castle Ledge buoy at the entrance of the river when she lost her steering. She immediately called the Coastguard in Falmouth who tasked the Dart RNLI B class lifeboat and the Torbay all weather lifeboat to assist. The five yachtsmen onboard were able to set up a jury rig and regained their ability to steer shortly after the Dart lifeboat reached them. The RNLI volunteers then escorted her to the Town pontoon. The yacht had been on a shake down passage from Lymington.
