Launches
A 30ft wooden boat that had been put in the water five days before was continuing to take on water and required pumping out every three hours. Dart Harbour and Navigation Authority were aware and had supplied them with a pump. Just before midnight the Coastguard was alerted as a middle aged man on board had developed severe pain and required urgent examination in Hospital. The RNLI Dart Atlantic 75 lifeboat was launched and took the man and another ashore to the Noss Marina where they awaited an ambulance. The Berry Head coastguard SAR team came to care for the casualty which allowed the lifeboat to return to the boat. The casualty’s driver later decided to drive to Torbay Hospital and they were escorted there by the Coastguard team. The Dart Harbour and Navigation Authority duty team were alerted and towed the boat to a safe berth.
