The RNLI Dart B class lifeboat and D class lifeboat were tasked to assist the skipper of a yacht anchored on the Dart north of Parsons Mud. He was loading lockers in a cramped position when he suddenly suffered severe pain in his leg. A stretcher and Entonox were taken to the scene on the Atlantic 75 and the crew of the D class were originally sent to help transfer the casualty but then changed crew with the crew of the B class as they were more highly trained in First Aid. It was the first time that the Entonox had been used by the Dart volunteers and it gave good pain relief. The casualty was taken on the stretcher in the B class to a waiting ambulance crew on the Town Pontoon in Dartmouth.
