Presumed hoax call to sinking vessel

Launch No: 418
Craft: Dudley Jane. D-838
Thursday, 28 November 2019
Location: Dartmouth Harbour

A vessel with a blue hull was reported to be sinking at moorings south of the Lower Ferry. A request was made for a salvage pump to be loaded. The deputy Launch Authority believed the location to be false as there are no moorings used at this time of year in the location given,
Both lifeboats were launched to search the moorings in Dartmouth Harbour. No sinking boat was found. Various checks were made with the Harbour Board. The Coastguard were unable to contact the original informant. It is suspected that this was a hoax call.
