Response to cries for help from man in the water

Launch No: 416
Craft: Staines Whitfield B-795
Tuesday, 5 November 2019
Location: Dartmouth Harbour

A member of the public on the Kingswear side of the river heard a call for help coming from the water and called 999 to notify the Coastguard. RNLI Dart ILB launched first, closely followed by the RNLI Dart B class lifeboat, to search the pontoons in the area of the Darthaven Marina. Follow up information was received by the coastguard that a male had fallen from his dinghy on the Dartmouth side and called for help. He was able to get out of the water, board his dinghy and return to his vessel which was moored in the centre of the river. The Dart ILB returned to station whilst the Dart Lifeboat with a paramedic crew member attended the vessel and assessed his condition. They found him well and not needing any medical attention.
