An informant had seen an object in the water which he thought was possibly a windsurfer. The Inshore lifeboat was directed to the object by the onshore Coastguard team together with the informant. It became apparent that the object was a coastal weather observation buoy which was securely tethered in its charted position. The three minute launch time was achieved because some of the crew were playing cricket outside the lifeboat station at the time.
