Sinking yacht towed to safety

Launch No: 90
Craft: Spirit of the Dart. D-702
Saturday, 2 October 2010
Location: Dartmouth Harbour

A 30 foot yacht, permanently moored on the deep water moorings, developed a leak and the 2 crew called the Coastguard for assistance. The CG requested the inshore lifeboat to attend. Two yachtsmen had arrived and offered their assistance in pumping her out. Another yacht in the harbour offered their pump and the crew took that to the yacht. The DHNA provided assistance and a petrol salvage pump. The cause of the leak could not be determined and the lifeboat towed the yacht to the Darthaven Marina where she was lifted out of the water.
