A sailing. yacht reported a sighting of orange / yellow flares six miles south east of Dartmouth. The Dart RNLI Atlantic lifeboat was tasked by the Solent Coastguard to search in tandem with the Torbay RNLI all weather lifeboat. The search pattern was calculated by the Coastguard from the position of the yacht and the bearing that they gave. Each leg of the search was 4.2 miles long at 12 knots. The yacht also joined the search. After one and a half hours, when nothing had been found, the lifeboats were stood down.
