Yacht 7.5 miles offshore calls for assistance

Launch No: 59
Craft: Gilbert Goble. D-602
Saturday, 27 March 2010
Location: Start Bay. 7.5 miles SE of the Dart Estuary.

The skipper of a 47 foot sloop contacted the Costguard to request assistance as he had lost electrical power and was single handed. The boat was reported to be 3.5 miles off Dartmouth and the Dart ILB was launched. The ILB reached the sloop 7.5 miles out and the Torbay ALB was also launched. The ILB returned to harbour to refuel whilst the sloop was escorted back to the Dart by the ALB. The Dart ILB then put a crewman on board and escorted the sloop back to a mooring near the Anchorstone on the Dart.
