The Falmouth Coastguard tasked both Dart RNLI lifeboats when a 32ft yacht requested help having been driven onto the beach at Torcross, Start Bay. The Dart RNLI D class lifeboat was tasked as she would be able to land crew on the beach if necessary, rather than from the B class lifeboat. The RNLI all weather lifeboat from Salcombe was also asked to attend but was stood down as she passed Start Point when the Dart lifeboats arrived on scene and assessed the situation. The yacht with a single handed sailor on board was towed off the beach by the B class Atlantic 75 lifeboat. The yachtsman was then able to motor to the Town Pontoon in Dartmouth Harbour, escorted by the two lifeboats.
