Launches
The Lifeboat was tasked by the Coastguard to attend a 29ft Feeling class yacht which was aground on Middleback shoal and listing to 45 degrees. The yacht had one adult and two young children on board. She had been launched at Totnes and the skipper had decided to lie overnight on a buoy on the Cornworthy side of the river opposite Stoke Gabriel. As the tide fell she grounded on sand and started to list. When the lifeboat arrived the water was up to the gunwales but the children were still asleep! The family were taken in the ILB to Dittisham pontoon where they were met by the mobile Coastguard team and driven to the Lifeboat Station in Dartmouth. A member of the crew offered to put them up for the night but they chose to accept the offer of a lift back to their own transport at Baltic Wharf, Totnes.
