Joint Training Exercise

A joint training exercise with Dart lifeboat, RNLI Lifeguards and Dartmouth Coastguard teams took place on 6 July 2010.

There were back-to-back shouts with scenarios based around Blackpool Sands. One casualty was located by the Coastguard team half way up a cliff at Leonards Cove. While attempting to recover this casualty another incident was reported. A man in a dinghy had been seen west of Blackpool Sands with severe injuries. The second casualty was brought ashore successfully. Dealing with his injuries provided realistic backup for the crew after their recent First Aid training. A second crew returned to the first casualty. The original intention was to lower him to the beach and for him to be taken to Blackpool Sands where co-ordinated treatment by the RNLI Lifeguards and crew could take place. In the event he could not be lowered down the cliff and the Coastguard team lifted him back up.
