Awards to RNLI Dart fundraisers
Three members of RNLI Dart Lifeboat Fundraising Branch will be presented with awards for their contribution to fundraising for the RNLI in Dartmouth and elsewhere. Clare Thorp and Jo Escott are to receive Bronze Badges and Jamie Mathys will receive a Certificate of Thanks. Clare Thorp, well known for her gig racing activities, is the Secretary. Jo Escott has organized the Flag Day collections for many years and previously worked for other fundraising branches. Jamie Mathys is a lifeboat crew member and helm and is also a member of the fundraising committee.

The RNLI’s Head of Engagement, Nathan Palmer said, "I hope you will feel that this is also an honour conferred on Dart Branch and I am sure it will give great satisfaction to your members”

Ed Featherstone commented “I am delighted that the RNLI has acknowledged the hard work and dedication of Clare, Jo and Jamie.  Jo very much merits recognition for her lifetime contribution to the RNLI, along with her husband Harry.” He added, “The start of 2015 sees a series of events to celebrate RNLI SOS Week with school education visits by John Fenton and his team. “Sink Our Ship” in the Boatfloat from 12 to 2pm will be on Saturday 14 February, a Quiz Night Supper at Radius 7, formally the Brill Plaice in Stoke Fleming, on Thursday 19 February and the boat and crew will be on display at Sainsburys on Saturday 21 February.”

We are looking to recruit for two important positions on the fundraising branch. Bob Hattersley and Ian McMaster have asked to retire after a long period of service. Bob is the Membership Secretary and Ian came back for a second stint as Treasurer. If anyone would like more information about these roles please contact Ed Featherstone on 07889 953974.

Visitor Centre
Project Manager Tracey Lucas was also pleased to announce that work on the Visitor Centre on South Embankment has now started.  Builders are currently working in the building and hope to be finished in a few weeks, after which we look forward to the fitting out of the centre in time to open for our summer visitors. Look out for articles in the local press in the coming months when we will be inviting members of our community to join our team of volunteers".
