False alarm to body reported on beach

Launch No: 165
Craft: Spirit of the Dart. D-702
Wednesday, 16 January 2013
Location: Lighthouse Beach. Dartmouth Harbour

The Police asked the lifeboat to attend as they had a visual sighting from the cliff top of a body on Lighthouse Beach. As the lifeboat approached the beach it became obvious that the object was a life-sized mannequin used for training purposes. From identity marks on it the Coastguard was able to link it to the Britannia Royal Naval College. The lifeboat crew was asked to remove it before it gave rise to further sightings and they returned it to a BRNC boat that was exercising on the river.
