Investigation of PAN PAN report

Launch No: 88
Craft: Spirit of the Dart. D-702
Friday, 17 September 2010
Location: River Dart. Search area Anchor Stone, Dittisham, to Totnes Weir

There were two reports of a PAN PAN call heard on the River Dart above Dittisham but with no further information on the call. The Coastguard requested the ILB to launch and investigate the situation by searching upriver to the Totnes weir. Nothing was found and the probability was that the call was not in our area at all and had been heard in shortened form due to the unusual atmospheric conditions with high pressure and a cloudless sky.
