Lone Yachtsman drags anchor during the night

A lone Yachtsman aboard a Westerly 26 foot yacht was anchored close to Blackpool Sands - he woke to find he had drifted and the vessel was snagged on a buoy and he was unable to free himself. The Coastguard alterted Dart RNLI who launched the B-Class Norma Ethel Vinnel to the assistance of the stricken vessel. The Volunteer crew towed the vessel back to Dartmouth and understand that the Yachtman was on his way back to his home port of Plymouth and would continue that journey later in the day.

Visitor Centre opening hours

The shop is now open from 11am to 3pm. on Monday, Thursday and Saturday and from 11am to 1pm on Tuesday and Wednesdays. After closing on Saturday 4 December the VC will be closed until the start of half term week in Feb 2022.
