The Falmouth Coastguard alerted Dart RNLI to a casualty aboard a 22m motor yacht moored on the Dartmouth midstream buoys between the N. Embankment and Kingswear. The casualty had a known condition and was in severe pain. The crew of the Dart Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat were tasked to assess and stabilise the casualty whilst awaiting the ambulance which was not immediately available. Medical assistance, including the use of appropriate medication and oxygen, was given. One of the lifeboat crew was also a Paramedic with the South West Ambulance service. Once the lifeboat crew were onboard, the lifeboat went to collect one of the Dartmouth's public defibrillators should it be needed. The patient was then transferred to a waiting ambulance on the Kingswear side of the river. This callout is being assessed as a life saved.
