Medical evacuation of missing person.

Launch No: 220
Craft: Spirit of the Dart. D-702
Tuesday, 29 July 2014
Location: Hackney Creek, River Dart

Following on from the previous incident Dart RNLI inshore lifeboat was requested to re-launch to assist HM Coastguard Search & Rescue Teams and Dartmoor Search & Rescue Team (DSRT) with the medical evacuation of the previously reported missing person. The missing person had been found by a Dartmoor Rescue team in dense undergrowth in the Hackney Creek area of the River Dart. Due to the remote inaccessible location the best way to evacuate the casualty was by lifeboat. Dart ILB arrived on scene and using the new RNLI style stretcher the casualty was transferred from the foreshore to the lifeboat. The ILB, with the casualty and two Doctors from DSRT, then proceeded to the Higher Ferry slipway in Kingwear to meet an awaiting ambulance. The ILB then returned to the scene to collect more team members from DSRT and HM Coastguard and returned them the the Higher Ferry slipway.
