The Dart inshore lifeboat was on exercise when they were diverted by the Coastguard to assist a 13 metre motor cruiser with steering problems close to the rocks off Lighthouse Beach. The steering system had jammed hard to port. By switching the engine off and restarting, the problem was cleared and the sole occupant was escorted back to his berth at Darthaven Marina.
