The Police were notified by a person in Kingswear that a lady was heard to be calling for help in the area of Warfleet creek. The Police helicopter was already nearby and was diverted to carry out an aerial search. The helicopter crew found nothing abnormal and the Police requested the Coastguard to call out the RNLI Dart inshore lifeboat and the Dartmouth and Berry Head mobile coastguard search and rescue teams to carry out a further search of the area. The teams used searchlights and, aided by the light of a full moon and a flat calm in the river, were confident that no one was in the water. After 30 minutes the Coastguard called off the search and teams returned to their stations.
