River search for missing Totnesian

Location: River Dart. Search area Sharpham to Totnes Weir.

The crew had been training on the Dart for two hours when they were tasked by the Coastguard to search the River Dart from Sharpham to the Totnes weir for a missing lady from Totnes thought to be at risk. As they were on a rising tide they were also able to search through the "Hole in the wall" and a short way up the River Hems towards Broadhempston. After three hours the river based search was called off. The land based search by other Emergency services continued. She was found on shore alive and well the following day. Lifeboat crew; Helm Buster Hart. Crewmen Mark Conroy and Ewen Menzies. Launch crew:Jim Brent and Mark Strudwick.

Visitor Centre opening hours

The shop is now open from 11am to 3pm. on Monday, Thursday and Saturday and from 11am to 1pm on Tuesday and Wednesdays. After closing on Saturday 4 December the VC will be closed until the start of half term week in Feb 2022.
