Search after upturned canoe seen in harbour.

Launch No: 54
Craft: Spirit of the Dart. D-702
Saturday, 16 January 2010
Location: Dartmouth Harbour

A two man canoe was reported by a member of the public as being upturned near Bayards Cove. It was retrieved by a Dart Harbour Authority launch and the Coastguard tasked the lifeboat to search Warfleet Creek and the Kingswear shore back to the Lower Ferry in case anyone was in it when it capsized. Having completed a mid channel search of the river and found nobody the D class lifeboat was diverted to investigate a partially submerged object, possibly an upturned boat, reported to the Coastguard by the observers at NIC Froward Point.
