Search for missing mountain biker

Launch No: 62
Craft: Spirit of the Dart. D-702
Monday, 17 May 2010
Location: Search in Dartmouth Harbour and Start Bay to Froward Point.

The Coastguard requested a search for a missing 26 year old mountain biker. The Inshore lifeboat was asked to conduct a visual seach of the foreshore and cliffs between the Dartmouth Lower Ferry and Froward Point. The ILB crew pulled into Mill Bay and spoke to the originator of the call, to obtain a fuller description. They had made a quick search of the area to Froward Point and were conducting a slower search of the area on their return when the casualty was located unharmed at the Lower Ferry in Dartmouth. The three minute response time was because 12 members of the lifeboat crew were attending a First Aid course in the Lifeboat Station when the pagers went off.
