Water in fuel causes motor cruiser engine failure

Requested by HMCG to assist a broken down 26' Bayliner Motorcruiser with two persons on board near the Mewstone. The vessel was on route from Torquay to Dartside Quay, Galmpton, for a lift out. On arrival the casualty was again under its own power and had reached the Checkstone buoy, although the engine had cut out several times. Dart lifeboat escorted the vessel up river. At the Anchor Stone the engine cut out again and could not be restarted. The vessel was taken in tow by Dart Lifeboat and secured at Dartside Quay. The problem was water in the fuel. Lifeboat crew, Lloyd Turner Helm, Yorkie Lomas and Chris Rampling crew. Launch crew, Jim Brent Tractor driver, Tony Chapman and Al Duffy shore crew.

Visitor Centre opening hours

The shop is now open from 11am to 3pm. on Monday, Thursday and Saturday and from 11am to 1pm on Tuesday and Wednesdays. After closing on Saturday 4 December the VC will be closed until the start of half term week in Feb 2022.
