Dart RNLI launches to windsurfer in Start Bay

The father of the two youths in their kayak who had just been escorted ashore by the Dart inshore lifeboat, decided to launch his windsurfer from Slapton Sands and to go and find them. He was reported by many members of the public to be in trouble approximately half a mile off Forrest Cove, south west of Blackpool Sands. Forty minutes after returning to station the Dart RNLI inshore lifeboat was re-launched to assist him. He was constantly falling off his windsurfer in the strong winds and choppy sea conditions. The windsurfer, with his craft, was taken into the lifeboat and transferred to Blackpool Sands where he was met by members of the Coastguard Rescue team.
