Yacht with dragging anchor in Harbour.

Launch No: 71
Craft: Spirit of the Dart. D-702
Sunday, 11 July 2010
Location: Dartmouth Harbour

A 36ft. yacht was seen drifting off Town Quay in Dartmouth Harbour. The Coastguard asked Dart Lifeboat to attend but then stood them down before launch as the skipper of the boat had come on deck and attended to his anchor cable. Ten minutes later the yacht was reported to still be drifting and a further request to launch was made. The crew lifted the yacht's anchor cable and found it to be fouled by wire and debris which had prevented it gaining a purchase. The anchor was cleaned off and reset by the crew.
