Upturned canoe reported at Totnes.

Launch No: 33
Craft: Spirit of the Dart. D-702
Sunday, 26 July 2009
Location: Totnes Bridge

The Coastguard requested the ILB to launch and investigate an upturned 17ft Canadian two man canoe seen 100 metres downstream of the Totnes road bridge.

A paddle was picked up at Longmarsh on the way to the incident. The previous evening the owner and a friend had attempted to paddle across the Dart at Totnes and had capsized. They swam ashore and the canoe had drifted off.

The owner was located by the mobile Coastguard team and the ILB took him and the canoe back to its launch site in Totnes.
