Education
The RNLI have organised Water safety Wednesdays at 10.15 on the www.facebook.com/rnli/ page. It lasts 15minutes and is aimed at the primary level.
We know that Governmental instructions are to stay at home so with this in mind, we would like to give people ways for young people to continue to learn essential and lifesaving water safety for when the time comes in the future where the Government advise that people can resume back to normal and may be visiting beaches for example.
Water Safety Wednesdays are aimed at parents, guardians, grandparents or teachers, providing a selection of fun, free and engaging activities to help children learn at home or in the classroom on how to stay safe in, on and around the water. Each activity comes with a set of notes; making it easy to be taught anywhere, and by anyone. Teaching at home may be new for many people at the moment and if we can help, we would like to. Starting this Wednesday, we will be sharing a suggested activity to download each week.
We will be running a live dedicated Water Safety Wednesday session on Facebook Live, hosted by one of our very own Water Safety Team members. This started on Wednesday 1t April at 10.15 am on the RNLI’s Facebook Page. www.facebook.com/rnli/ Links will also be shared via Twitter www.twitter.com/RNLI and with volunteers in the Volunteer Facebook Group.
There will be additional interactive activities to take away each week, so please tune in and share with your friends, family and local communities. As always, we want to share our interventions as far and wide as possible, to help us reach those most at risk. Please also take this opportunity to share Water Safety Wednesdays within your own networks.
Keep safe
