35ft yacht stuck in mud assisted by lifeboat

A 35ft yacht 'Kaylia' with four persons on board had become stuck in mud on Parsons Flat in the River Dart. The lifeboat crew found the keel of the vessel stuck fast and attempted to tow the vessel off but without success. The crew then assisted the yacht crew to deploy a kedge anchor from the mast to ensure the vessel remained upright during low water. The yacht crew did not wish to go ashore and remained with their vessel until the tide lifted her off the mud. Visitor Centre opening hours

The shop is now open from 11am to 3pm. on Monday, Thursday and Saturday and from 11am to 1pm on Tuesday and Wednesdays. After closing on Saturday 4 December the VC will be closed until the start of half term week in Feb 2022.
