Single handed sailor adrift near Mewstone

A MayDay call was received from the sea angling boat, Sea Jay, who had seen a ketch drifting 20 feet from the Mewstone with no one visibly on board. The Sea Jay towed the ketch, Sea Brigand, out of danger and then handed over her care to the inshore lifeboat crew. The Canadian single handed sailor on the Sea Brigand had gone below after sailing all night and fallen asleep. A crewman was put on board and assisted the him in making his way to a visitor's berth at Dart Haven. Visitor Centre opening hours

The shop is now open from 11am to 3pm. on Monday, Thursday and Saturday and from 11am to 1pm on Tuesday and Wednesdays. After closing on Saturday 4 December the VC will be closed until the start of half term week in Feb 2022.
