The RNLI Dart replacement lifeboat D-838 arrived on 10 July 2019

She will be Named and Blessed at a ceremony on Sunday 4 August. See Events on this website.

D-838 was built, as are all the RNLI's inshore lifeboats, at the Inshore Lifeboat Centre in East Cowes on the Isle of Wight. Since her arrival she has already been tasked to two medical evacuations (Medevacs) The second of these, which took place just after 2am on 26 July, was so serious that it may well be classified, after review by the RNLI as "a life saved"

Visitor Centre opening hours

The shop is now open from 11am to 3pm. on Monday, Thursday and Saturday and from 11am to 1pm on Tuesday and Wednesdays. After closing on Saturday 4 December the VC will be closed until the start of half term week in Feb 2022.
